Our Lifestyle Lenses® (also known as premium or multi-focal intraocular lenses) are used in the treatment of cataracts to restore bright, vibrant and youthful vision. In standard cataract surgery, a clear mono-focal lens is inserted as a replacement for your clouded lens, allowing for vision correction at a single distance. With a standard procedure, patients requiring glasses or readers will still need them after surgery. HOWEVER, LifeStyle Lenses feature advanced technology that adjusts focus within the eye. This feature allows your eye to focus on both far and near objects.

Most LifeStyle Lens patients are able to eliminate or dramatically reduce their dependency on readers and bifocals following surgery. These remarkable lenses are designed for permanent insertion within the eye, and are a significant improvement over monofocal lenses. Southern Kentucky Eye is pleased to offer its patients the newest in lens implant technology with ReSTOR Multifocal, ReSTOR Multifocal Toric for Astigmatism, Tecnis Symfony, and Technis Symfony Toric for Astigmatism. All are FDA-approved “accommodating” LifeStyle Lens. Like the natural lens, it uses the eye muscle to flex and accommodate in order to focus on objects in the environment at all distances.

How does the ReSTOR Multifocal and ReSTOR Multifocal Toric for Astigmatism work?

The ReSTOR Multifocal is designed correct both near and distance vision while helping patients become free of glasses for a range of activities. While more than half of cataract patients also have astigmatism, the ReSTOR Multifocal Toric with is designed to eliminate astigmatism while also correcting near and distance vision.
